"Up From The Ashes"

UP FROM THE ASHES

On December 31, 1997, almost 20 ago, in the city of Worcester, Massachusetts, I won a business plan competition. This competition was sponsored by S.C.O.R.E., the SBA, the Chamber of Commerce, and the Worcester Common Outlet mall. The grand prize was store space in the Worcester Common Outlet Mall for one year free of charge.  Shortly after the year was up my home was destroyed by fire.  I escaped the flames by jumping from a third floor window.  My back was broken from the fall, I was hospitalized for three months, and my beloved business closed.

After the fire, and seemingly, one loss after another, my faith strengthened. I was able to pursue my long standing theological interests. In 2011, I earned a Bachelor’s in Religious Studies, in 2013 a Masters’ in Discipleship Ministry, and in 2016 a M.Div. in Chaplaincy. I am now equipped for ministry and business.

Even though my beloved business closed nearly 20 years ago, I maintain my love of all things entrepreneurial. I am excited about the possibilities and avenues available to Vida Mazyck Enterprises.  As I pursue these interests, I continue to rise from the ashes.
